Throughout high school, I have ALWAYS used
EasyBib to create citations for my essays, research papers, projects, etc. I love the convenience of simply being able to enter the link of my source and have the website instantly cite it for my Works Cited page. Recently, I started writing my essays in Google Docs rather than in Pages. One of the amazing features of Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Sheets is the add-ons feature.
Google add-ons are extra features that allow you to add functionality and simplicity to all your documents, which you can turn on and off at any time. While researching add-ons, I found the
EasyBib Bibliography Creator. Once you download this add-on, you can search the name of any book, journal, website, or article and it will create the citation for you, just as the website does, but right in your Google Doc!
To download an add-on, click on the add-on feature at the top bar of your Google Doc, Form, or Spreadsheet. Search for the EasyBib Bibliography Creator and add it to your add-ons:
For example, let's say you had written an essay about the novel
Feed and needed to cite it. You would open the EasyBib Bibliography Creator by clicking the add-on on your add-ons list and choosing "Manage Bibliography." Then enter and search
Feed in the text box
. Select the first option:
Then, choose the "ADD BIBLIOGRAPHY TO DOC" option,
And then your Google Doc will create a page titled "Bibliography" with your citation for Feed!
I highly recommend using this add-on as well as other add-ons that Google has to offer. The add-ons are extremely helpful and help to avoid opening new tabs for bibliographies, dictionaries, etc.
